THE COLLECTOR

by Kay Jaybee

There is a myth that only dominant, slim, basque-clad women write erotica. This anthology breaks away from that misconception.

The 21 stories included in this book have been compiled by an anonymous central narrator referred to as the Collector, who either acquires the tales from a willing third party (Cupboard Lust), or overhears information and fills in the blanks herself (Learning). Not a call girl or a sex club queen, she sits in coffee shops by day, gaining a strange pleasure from writing up her salacious literature in public. Travelling on public transport as much as possible, listening to conversations in restaurants, pubs and cafes, she keeps her eyes and ears open for potential material. When sources run dry the Collector takes matters into her own hands, engineering situations worth writing about by doing some direct research (Treasure). Occasionally she visits the select clubs and private houses of the Home Counties, which guarantee to provide the type of material required to retell the most erotic of adventures (Tequila). Divided into chapters, the stories vary in length from 250 words to c.4000 words. Each tale is pulled together with a short narrative, which offers a brief history to the piece, without frustrating the reader intent on the stories themselves. From New Territory, which provides information about both our narrator and her writing, to Alone, The Collector takes the reader through every gambit of the sexual experience. Lust, submission, dominance, instruction, voyeurism and masturbation, are all observed within the genres of heterosexual, lesbian and solo sex.

Jordan LaRousse's Review - The Collector

Was it you who was sitting at that coffee shop with your best friend, sharing the details of your dirty escapades? Were you telling the story about the time your employer found you polishing his floor in only your panties? Or was it the story about how your boss likes to eat candy from out of your pussy? Or were you telling her about the night you were tied up in a dungeon and made to watch your boyfriend fuck your best friend?

Did you happen to notice the nondescript woman in the corner? Yes the petite one, with chestnut hair, the one scribbling in her notebook. I don’t suppose you would have recognized her anyway—few know her face. It was Kay Jaybee the erotic writer, a collector of sorts.

As it turns out she heard every word you said and has included your story in her voyeuristic book The Collector (Austin MacCauley 2008) which has finally made its way into print after two years from concept to publication.

The book is an entertaining and provocative glance into the sex-lives of an eclectic selection people, each with a kinky tale to tell.

From the truly bizarre—“Sweets” (p. 35) is a tale of a submissive whose dominant partner insists on stuffing her pussy with licorice before getting her off.

To the super sexy—“New Territory” (p. 15) is the story of how the collector herself takes one of her subjects home, having her way with him with barely a word exchanged.

To the truly intense—“Tequila” (p. 69) tells the story of a woman who is gang-raped, then rescued from the gutter and eagerly fucked by the barman who witnessed the whole scene.

In total there are twenty short stories, each a unique sexual exploration. Although each story is delightfully different from the next, the underlying concept remains the same; Kay Jaybee gets her fingers deep into the sex lives of strangers, acquaintances and friends, most often from her favorite perch in the coffeehouse. There is no need to peep into your neighbor’s bedroom windows now, just open the book and find out what’s going on in the pants of those around you.

Kay Jaybee writes in her epilogue “If I have learnt anything from putting together this collection, it’s that you cannot tell what someone is into by just looking at them.”

Just as understated as its author, the cover of The Collector lends no suspicion of anything untoward or erotic – you could be reading a chapbook of love poetry for all anyone would know. Enjoy this book in your favorite coffeehouse and no one will be the wiser.

REVIEW By Paul Swanley

THE COLLECTOR by Kay Jaybee

This is a mysterious insight into the effect of a diverse number of sexual practices. The author has evidently collected together unusual material to form this easy-to-read yet clearly described and explicit book on sexual encounters. The indiscretions of people being observed by the author are clearly outlined with no details spared in the telling, which means that the reader will be able to learn a great deal about the erotica of others. This insight into the actions and sexual desires of certain people can be both daunting and informative.

An obvious quiet observer of other people's behaviour, Kay Jaybee discerns the true sexuality of various men and women in a series of chapters. She has observed within each chapter the different ways they deal with each other in their physical relationships or unique experiences be they lesbian, homosexual or heterosexual.

The author makes it very clear that her – not at all clinical but very graphic observations – are able to reflect the sometimes hidden desires that the participants seem to possess. Their needs evidently are only to be fulfilled in certain, and perhaps in the main unusual ways, that explore the realms of fantasy

Lust, generated by the couples using a widely differing amount of stimulus from a variety of objects, and in very different situations, is also graphically explored. Therefore, it needs to be noted that this book is only suitable for very broad minded and liberal thinking people who can take the shock of the graphic descriptions given!
